Gobble, Gobble, Gobble

There is inspiration everywhere.  I must thank Susan over at T.G.I.F. for providing this source:
I looked at these turkeys and knew my second graders could do this, too.  Our district uses Everyday Math.  One of the routines the students practice is name collection boxes.  In these, students write different ways to represent a number.  Students often need encouragement to try ways other than just addition and subtraction facts (especially when they aren't confident with coins, tally marks, etc.).
I found a turkey template online and the students went to work.  Here are some of the final creations:

I did the same activity today with my firsties. They loved it. We did ways to make 10.
